May 4, 2007, Newsletter Issue #62: Lexmark Inkjet Cartridges Versus Remanufactured Cartridges

Tip of the Week

DataBazaar.com Tip: There is an ongoing debate over whether third party remanufactured cartridges are as good or comparable to original versions, such as the Lexmark inkjet cartridges. The answer depends on which third party source of remanufactured cartridges is in question and which source you’re gathering your information from.

According to Lexmark, third party remanufactured cartridges fail to compete. Independent studies done by Buyers Laboratory found that Lexmark inkjet cartridges outperformed a third party source of remanufactured cartridges in terms of reliability, image quality and the number of problem cartridges.

However, consumers still find the cost savings of up to 50 percent irresistible. For instance, comments from reviews on one compatible Lexmark inkjet cartridge, the COM17G0050, were positive. Customers cited good value, easy installation and clear quality text in their reviews.
