August 8, 2008, Newsletter Issue #127: Buy New Toner Cartridges, Dispose the Old Toner Cartridges

Tip of the Week

Now, when you replace the old toner cartridges with new toner cartridges, you no longer have to feel as though you’re contributing to the waste in the environment. Under a pilot program started by the United States Postal Service, certain retail locations will facilitate the recycling of your old toner cartridges, as well as your inkjet cartridges. Here’s how it works.

You can purchase a pre-paid, pre-addressed envelope to place your old toner cartridges or your old inkjet cartridges. Drop off the envelope in the mail and your envelope will go to a recycling facility. It’s a simple method and the participating retail location covers the cost of the return shipping. As of 2006, there were about 26,000 retail facilities, in addition to 300,000 collection box locations and 290,000 letter carriers participating in the recycling program.
